Overview
Mongolia is one of those places that feels completely different from anywhere else you'll ever ride. Within a couple of hours of leaving Ulaanbaatar, the roads disappear, the landscape opens up into endless steppe and horses outnumber people. For the next week you'll travel through rolling grasslands, forests and valleys, riding alongside local nomadic horsemen whose lives still revolve around their horses.
This eight-day itinerary packs an incredible amount of riding into a relatively short trip, with five and a half days in the saddle. The support vehicle carries your luggage, leaving your horse free to cover the ground with long canters and exhilarating gallops across the open plains. Along the way you'll meet nomadic families, spend a night in a traditional ger (yurt) and camp beneath some of the clearest night skies you'll ever see.
The Mongolian horses may be small, but they are incredibly tough, sure-footed and full of character. Bred for life on the steppe, they are perfectly suited to this vast landscape and make exploring it an absolute joy.
This isn't about luxury hotels or polished tourist attractions. It's about experiencing Mongolia as it has been for centuries—sharing meals around the campfire, sleeping in the wilderness and riding through a landscape where there are few fences, few people and an overwhelming sense of freedom. Riding & Itinerary
Please note that in May, early June and towards the end of the season the riding pace may be slower to respect the horses' natural condition after winter and before the onset of winter.
Day 1
Arrival in Mongolia
Your English-speaking translator will meet you at Ulaanbaatar Airport on arrival of the Turkish Airlines flight for the group transfer. Leave the city behind as you head straight to the Mongolian steppe.
After a drive of approximately 2½ hours, you'll arrive amongst the endless grasslands, where nomadic families live alongside their free-roaming horses. Enjoy lunch at a traditional yurt camp before spending the evening with a local nomadic family, learning about their fascinating way of life and the traditional Mongolian ger (yurt).
Overnight in a yurt camp (up to four guests per yurt) with shared shower facilities.
Days 2–6
Riding the Mongolian Steppe
Spend five unforgettable days exploring the vast landscapes of Central Mongolia on horseback.
Your horses come from a breeder who regularly competes in the famous Naadam races and are known for their stamina, sure-footedness and willingness. Guided by local nomadic horsemen and accompanied by your English-speaking translator, you'll ride across sweeping steppes, rolling hills, wooded valleys and larch-covered mountains.
Along the way you'll pass traditional nomadic camps, meeting families living much as they have for centuries with their herds of horses, cattle, sheep and goats.
The support vehicle carries all your luggage and meets the group for picnic lunches, allowing you to enjoy long canters and exhilarating gallops across the open plains without carrying any extra weight.
Dinner and overnight in comfortable camping tents each evening.
Day 7
Final Ride & Return
Enjoy one final morning on horseback before a picnic lunch in the countryside.
After lunch, transfer approximately 2½ hours towards Ulaanbaatar, staying overnight in a hotel or yurt camp close to the airport.
Dinner is included.
Day 8
Departure
Early morning group transfer to Ulaanbaatar Airport in time for the Turkish Airlines departure flight.
Please note that breakfast is not included due to the early departure, although refreshments are available to purchase at the airport.

Local Mongolian horses, 13 – 14hh, very hardy, very strong and very fast.

Accommodation & Meals
This is a true adventure holiday where the accommodation is all part of the experience. During your journey you'll spend five nights camping in Mongolia's breathtaking wilderness, one night in a traditional yurt camp with a nomadic family, and one final night in a hotel or yurt camp close to Ulaanbaatar Airport, ready for your early departure the following morning.
Your first night is spent in a traditional yurt camp, offering a wonderful introduction to Mongolia's nomadic culture. Guest yurts are located alongside local families, surrounded by freely roaming horses, yaks, sheep and goats. Each heated yurt typically sleeps up to four guests in single beds, with shared shower and toilet facilities nearby. It's a fantastic opportunity to experience the hospitality and traditions of Mongolia's nomadic people.
For the next five nights you'll camp in spectacular locations across the steppe, beside rivers and amongst forests. Comfortable one or two-person tents with thick self-inflating mattresses provide a surprisingly restful night's sleep after a day in the saddle. A large dining tent is used for meals, while a simple shower tent with hot water heated over the campfire is available. Camping in such remote and unspoilt surroundings is one of the real highlights of this adventure.
Meals are freshly prepared throughout the trip and are hearty, home-cooked and perfect after long days riding. Full board is included from lunch on Day 1 through to dinner on Day 7, with breakfasts, picnic lunches and evening meals provided each day. Water, tea and coffee are included throughout the ride, while other drinks are payable locally.
If you have any dietary requirements or food allergies, please let us know when booking and these will be accommodated wherever possible.
