MONGOLIA
Trans-Mongolia Ride
Overview
This is Mongolia at its most remote and adventurous. Over 20 days you'll cross some of the country's most spectacular landscapes on horseback, spending 14 unforgettable days in the saddle and travelling through regions few visitors ever experience.
The journey begins amongst the cliffs, sand dunes and sweeping grasslands surrounding the sacred Khogno Tarna Mountain before continuing deep into the wild landscapes of Arkhangai. Here you'll ride through dense larch forests, volcanic plateaus, dramatic river canyons and high mountain passes before reaching the beautiful White Lake and the mighty Khorgo Volcano. Along the way you'll cross rivers, camp beneath Mongolia's vast skies and spend time with the nomadic families whose lives still revolve around their horses.
This is a true expedition rather than a traditional riding holiday. Every day brings a new destination, with support vehicles carrying your luggage while hardy Mongolian horses take you through an ever-changing landscape of desert, mountains, steppe, forests and lava fields. Long canters, exhilarating gallops and unforgettable scenery are all part of the experience.
Designed for experienced riders with a real sense of adventure, this is one of the most complete horseback journeys Mongolia has to offer and an incredible way to experience the country's wilderness, culture and remarkable horse heritage.

Accommodation & Meals
This is a true expedition through some of Mongolia's most remote landscapes, and the accommodation reflects the adventurous nature of the journey. During the trip you'll spend fifteen nights camping in the wilderness, two nights in traditional guest yurts with nomadic families, one night in a comfortable yurt camp, and your final night in a hotel or yurt camp close to Ulaanbaatar Airport.
Camping is a key part of the experience, allowing you to stay in places far beyond the reach of hotels or permanent accommodation. High-quality one and two-person tents, complete with thick self-inflating mattresses, provide a comfortable night's sleep after long days in the saddle. A spacious mess tent is used for meals, while a mobile shower tent with water heated over the campfire allows you to freshen up each evening. Waking up surrounded by Mongolia's vast open landscapes is an unforgettable part of the adventure.
Your nights with nomadic families offer a fascinating insight into everyday life on the steppe. Heated by traditional stoves and furnished with single beds, the guest yurts are simple but welcoming. Facilities are basic, with communal shower tents and dry toilets, but the opportunity to spend time with your hosts and experience their way of life is something few travellers ever forget.
Meals are freshly prepared throughout the journey and designed to keep you fuelled for long days on horseback. Full board is included from lunch on Day 1 through to dinner on Day 19, with breakfasts, picnic lunches and evening meals provided each day.
