Scotland Wilder Ways Ultimate Adventure
Overview
If your idea of the perfect riding holiday involves big landscapes, fresh sea air and proper adventure, Wilder Ways’ Ultimate Adventure Week delivers it in spades. Set in the remote and beautiful Mull of Kintyre, this is Scotland at its wildest — dramatic coastlines, rolling hills, hidden tracks and huge open spaces, all explored from the saddle.
This is a true adventure-style riding week designed for confident, capable riders who enjoy long days in the saddle and varied terrain. No two days feel the same. One day you might be climbing hills with sweeping views across to neighbouring islands, the next cantering along deserted beaches with the Atlantic stretching out beside you. Wildlife sightings are common, the scenery is ever-changing, and the sense of freedom is unforgettable.
The riding is relaxed but purposeful, with a strong focus on partnership with your horse. You’ll enjoy a mix of fast work (always optional), steady hacks, skills-based riding and unique activities such as horseback archery, adding an extra dimension to the week. There is also a midweek rest day to recharge — whether that’s stretching tired muscles, exploring locally or simply enjoying the peace and quiet of this remote corner of Scotland.
Run by a small, passionate team who live and breathe horses and adventure, Wilder Ways offers a friendly, inclusive atmosphere where riders quickly bond — with their horses and with each other. It’s challenging in the best possible way, hugely rewarding, and ideal for riders looking for something a little different from the traditional trail ride.

Riding & Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at the farm (check in from 4pm) in time to settle before dinner at 7pm. Relax into your surroundings, and let the banter start flowing. Share your own horse history and set your wish list for the trip.
Day 2
The trip will start with a morning getting to know your horse, with some grooming and massage and a little horsemanship work to start building your relationship with your new steed. This will form a solid foundation of trust for the trip ahead. After lunch, take that newfound friendship and test it over an afternoon hack away the farm towards the hills of our next day’s ride. Get familiar with your steed over diverse terrain and start to get a sense of the adventures your hosts have in store for you over the rest of the week!
Day 3
We will hit the hills with a big full day trail ride across the countryside, giving you the chance to bond with your horse and enjoy wide open views. Navigate wild terrain and natural obstacles as we traverse the peninsula east to west and along one of its highest ridges. Be prepared for a long day in the saddle, this day is truly the “Call of the Wild”.
Day 4
Your first taste of the coast. We ride to the west to enjoy stunning views of the Islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha. Also keep your eyes out for our local marine mammals, which to date have included seals, dolphins and minkie whales. Enjoy the feel of sand under your hooves and the echoing sounds as we pick up pace.
Day 5
Time for some serious R&R. After 3 full days in the saddle it is time for you to check in with your body, recharge and get ready for the next 3 days of exhilaration. All meals will be provided at the farm and otherwise the day is yours to enjoy as you wish. Spend some quiet time in nature, or take a taxi into Campbeltown to enjoy some of the other local offerings.
Day 6
Nothing can prepare you for the thrill and satisfaction of shooting arrows from a running horse. It connects you to our warrior past in a way that is both instinctive and exhilarating. Spend the morning grasping the skills from the ground before you put this together with your trusted steed in the afternoon. Although horseback archery may take a ‘lifetime to master’, the skills involved are ‘easy to learn’, allowing you to quickly get a feel for this exciting pastime.
Day 7
Let’s kick back and head for the Southern beaches. Feel the wind in your hair and the salty, sandy air in your face as hooves thunder down the beach. There is nothing quite like the feeling of freedom and pure joy as horse and rider gun down the sand without a worry in the world. Be prepared for the taste of some of that sand in your teeth as the racing heats up. This day epitomises the “Thunder of Hooves; The Pound of your Heart”. For those not comfortable with gallop, do not worry. The faster work is optional – you can still enjoy the tranquility and sparkle of this beautiful coastline.
Day 8
Sadly, the end has come, it’s departure day after breakfast. Bid farewell to this tranquil place and your trusted steed.
Throughout your trip we encourage you to get your ‘hands dirty’ and look after your horse as if it were your own (don’t worry, we’ll support you to do this). The trust this builds between you and your horse helps to bring the very best out of this journey.
This intense 5 days of riding will leave you feeling exhilarated, empowered and totally in love with your horse.
