Rocking Z Ranch Montana
Overview
The Wirths have owned and run this Rocking Z Montana ranch for generations and have a great love for horses and cattle. It’s a genuine working ranch, no frills, but cosy and accommodating. The Wirths themselves are the warmest, friendliest family you’ll meet – they’ll certainly make sure all your cowboy or cowgirl aspirations are met on this authentic horse riding ranch holiday in the USA.
Rocking Z is a genuine ranch, set right in the heart of cowboy country, Montana, and not far from Yellowstone and little known but better Glacier Park. It’s a beautiful North American wilderness and if you’re lucky you might glimpse some of the local wildlife out on a ride, like eagles, bears, mountains lions and the very shy lynx.
Patty and Zack Wirth have been ranching and raising their children here for over 30 years – Zack is a 5th generation Montana rancher and works hard to preserve this life that he loves. Two of his daughters, Maria and Anna are also involved in the business, and are big followers of Parelli, so there’s also the opportunity to watch and learn about this training method. The other benefit to this is you can expect to ride very well-schooled and responsive horses.
The family see themselves as true wranglers, there to teach you and show you the ropes – guests at the Rocking Z can join in on many different activities – cattle round-ups, barrel racing, team penning, roping – there’s even trips out to local rodeos in June, July and August which are not to be missed. And if you like the outdoors, pack trips are also easily organised. You can come here a beginner or advanced, and you’ll learn a thing or two about being a proper cowboy or cowgirl!
