Riding and Cultural Trail - Special Departures 2026
New for 2026, this exclusive Riding & Culture Trail offers a unique opportunity to experience Sicily in a deeper and more immersive way, combining beautiful riding with carefully curated cultural experiences, local food and authentic Sicilian hospitality.
This one-off departure has been designed to showcase not only the wonderful riding at Pippa’s Paddock, but also the history, traditions and landscapes that make this part of Sicily so special.
This 7-night experience blends daily riding with excursions to some of Sicily’s most fascinating locations. You will ride through rolling countryside, olive groves and quiet rural tracks, while also enjoying visits to historic towns, vineyards and cultural sites.
As with all stays here, the experience is hosted personally by Mark, Pippa and the team, ensuring a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with excellent food, great horses and plenty of local insight throughout the week.
The riding follows the same ethos as the standard Pippa’s Paddock stays, with well-schooled, sure-footed Sicilian horses suited to intermediate and experienced riders. Days are varied, combining scenic rides from the farm with longer excursions into the surrounding countryside.
You will stay in comfortable, rustic accommodation with a relaxed, homely feel. Meals are a highlight of the experience, with simple breakfasts at the farm and many lunches and dinners enjoyed out at carefully selected local restaurants. This gives a real flavour of Sicilian cuisine and culture, with Mark hosting and sharing his knowledge of the region.

Sample One week Itinerary
Please note this is a sample itinerary—activities will vary depending on duration of the stay, the time of year, weather and guest interests. 5 Nights itinerary will be similar.
Day 1
Arrive and settle into your cosy accommodation. Meet the team and get to know the horses. After a light lunch, prepare for a relaxed afternoon ride through the rolling countryside. In the evening, head to a local restaurant for a delicious Sicilian dinner hosted by Mark.
Day 2
Start the day with breakfast before a morning ride through olive groves and vineyards. Return for a refreshing drink and light snack. After a short rest, drive to a smal private club by a lake where you can swim or make use of their canoes and pedalos.
Next is a visit to a renowned horse training centre with beautiful horses imported from all over the world, followed by a castle tour with dinner in the castle restaurant.
Day 3
Begin with breakfast, then saddle up for a morning ride followed by lunch on the terrace at Pippa's Paddock.
After a post lunch break, pack a small bag and head off to Palermo where you will dine out and enjoy the city's bustling cafes, bars, galaterias, restarants and nightlife of the city that never really sleeps.
Stay overnight at the B&B owned by Pippa's Paddock in the heart of the beautiful historic centre.
Day 4
Morning spent sightseeing in Palermo followed by lunch at a quaint taverna in the forgotten part of the historic centre.
Afternoon in Palermo then head back to the ranch for a light home coooked dinner.
Day 5
Morning ride after breakfast. Each ride takes us in different directions with changing scenery and experiences.
Back for a light lunch and quick change before deaprting for the afternoon excursion.
Today's visit is to the town of Corleone, made famous in the 'Godfather' film. Yes, this is the real place of the true 'Don Corleone' and you will learn the full story of the rise of the Sicillian 'Cosa Nostra'.
Stop for dinner half way home at the local village pizzeria.
Day 6
After breakfast, set off on a full day's ride to a friend's country house. the ride there takes around 3 hours and you will enjoy a delicious 4 course lunch on arrival.
There is a short cut for the ride home so a couple of hours hack back.
A light dinner at Pippa's Paddock followed by drinks - if there is enough energy we can pop into town for a few at the local bars.
Day 7
A morning ride after breakfast follwed by lunch. Then depending on the time of year we might go to a lovely beach resort of visit the Valley of the Temples. Both are incredibly beautiful and dinner will out near to either place.
Day 8
Departure day after breakfast. There might be time for one last ride depending on flight times.

Day 1 – Arrival in Sicily
Arrive, settle into your accommodation and meet your hosts and fellow riders. Enjoy a welcome dinner and introduction to the week ahead.
Day 2 – First Ride & Getting to Know Your Horse
Meet the horses and head out on your first ride through the surrounding countryside — a lovely introduction to the trails and your horse for the week.
A guided tour of the local town with your host Mark in the afternoon with a refreshment in a local bar.
Then head back for pizza night Pippa’s Paddock style.
Day 3 – Exploring Rural Sicily
Full day riding through remote Sicilian countryside, stopping for a picnic lunch then back on the trail arriving late afternoon at a private country house, your accommodation for the night.
Time for a drive down the mountain to a hot sulphur spring set in the wilderness and have dip, perfect after a long ride!
Stop on the way back in an ancient Arab town for an aperitif.
Dinner is back at the country house, your meal will include lots of home grown ingredients and plenty of their own Merlot wine.
Day 4 – Culture & Local Life
A morning ride to your next destination – a lovely farm guesthouse with a pool. Time for a swim before lunch and a rest.
Late afternoon sightseeing in the local medieval town followed by dinner in a quaint restaurant.
Day 5 – Scenic Countryside Trails
Another morning of riding to you next stopover in the countryside where you will arrive in time for lunch.
Later on enjoy a guided walk around a mountain village with a stop for drinks then return back to your accommodation for a delicious dinner.
Day 6 – Long Trail Ride
Breakfast followed by a full day riding with a picnic lunch.
Arrive late afternoon at your destination for the evening and enjoy a swim in the pool before a beautiful dinner.
Day 7 – Final Ride & Farewell Dinner
Time for a short morning ride back to Pippa”s Paddock. Lunch and relax in the afternoon.
Early evening head to the Valley of the Temples, a World heritage site with an incredible history.
Farewell dinner at a lovely restaurant in the town of Agrigento.
Day 8 – Departure
Breakfast and time for home!
