Kukutana Country House

Overview

Kukutana is an incredible family country home located on the edge of the famous Donana National Park where you can ride directly from the property in to the ancient woodlands with endless paths waiting to be explored. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage site because it is one of Europe’s most beautiful and important wetlands with 100,000 of protected land, supporting biodiversity. It is also a major site for migrating birds and has Europe’s longest virgin beach, here you can spot anything from lynx and storks to flamingos.


Kukutana is owned and loved by the Llorente family who look forward to welcoming you to their beautiful country home, ensuring you are looked after with fantastic accommodation, delicious food and wonderful riding memories.


An interesting fact, the Llorente family has close ties to Africa and the name Kukutana comes from Swahili and means "a place to come together" which embodies this incredible Andalucian retreat. Kukutana is perfect for special celebrations, reunions with old friends, birthdays, great for families or simply to enjoy the countryside, and availble also for groups on exclusive use basis.


The passion for horses is an essential part of the lifestyle in Andalucia, and the Llorente family share their passion with guests offering an authentic experience. You will ride along trails through pine forests, sandy paths, cliffs, and unspoiled beaches, in an environment where horses have always been part of the way of life. These are routes lasting between 3 and 7 days, ideal for intermediate to advanced riders.


You will also enjoy a pilgrimage on horseback to the local legendary village of El Rocio with its pretty white cottages, sandy streets and a Spanish wild west feel to it. The small village is home to 1700 residents, however welcomes 3 million visitors a year who pilgrimage to El Rocio for its religious festival and to to visit the Hermitage of El Rocio with the statue of la virgin El Rocio.

Riding & Itinerary

Itineraries are made on a bespoke individual basis and below is a taster of what you can expect from staying at Kukutana.


Day 1
You will be met by your driver at Seville airport and taken on the 45 minute journey to Kukutana in time for an aperitivo at sunset beside the pool.



Enjoy a delicious 3 course dinner before retiring to the lounge where you can help yourself to drinks from the bar trolley.



Day 2
Setting out from Kukutana, ride into the ancient forests that were once a hunting ground for the Spanish Royal Family. Stop at Palacio del Rey for a refreshment before lunch in El Rocio. Explore the sandy streets of this ’spaghetti western’ town before heading back to Kukutana for dinner.



Day 3
Leaving the unique town of El Rocio, pass through the pine forests enjoying the changing landscapes of Doñana National Park. Lunch back at Kukutana before relaxing by the pool.



Day 4
Morning ride along 20km of virgin beach, part of the Doñana National Park, this is a hotspot for birdlife. Enjoy the wide open spaces and idyllic views of local fishermen before a toes-in-the-sand picnic lunch. Head back to Kukutana for sundowners.

The luxury farmhouse has been lovingly restored by your hosts to produce a country home that is elegant and in a traditional Spanish style.
There are 6 double and twin ensuite bedrooms, a big living space with fireplace and dining room. Outside there is space to enjoy al fresco dining and a pool.



Kukutana takes pride in the gastronomic experience provided for guests.


  • Breakfast is continental style with cold meats, eggs, fresh bread, yogurt and porridge.

  • Lunch may be where you have ridden to or at Kukutana enjoy a salad and hot main dish outside.

  • Dinner is 3 courses is full of traditional Andalusian fare, expect hearty soups, steak and homemade lemon meringue pie.
