Zara’s Planet Rug Sponsors – Scottish U18 CCI2* Team

We are really excited to be sponsoring the team going forward to Frickley Park, at the Under 18 National Championships 25th – 28th July 2019.

It’s a good match for Zara’s Planet, we feel the Eventing audience and riders are well matched to some of our sporty riding adventures, especially holidays like riding safaris in Africa – it’s no surprise that Event riders like Lucinda Green and Mark Todd have themselves enjoyed riding safaris – to track wild game off the back of a horse requires good riding, horses and people with a sense of adventure!

Here’s a little about each event rider in the team, described by team mate Pollyanna Smith:

“Myself and the rest of team Scotland are really excited to have Zara’s Planet on board as our new rug sponsors for U18 CCI2* Team and here is a little about all of us.

This will be my second time at Frickley with my horse Mouse. Mouse is 9 years old, 16.2hh, chestnut gelding and we’ve been together for the last 2 years. Our Team Captain is a great friend of mine, Emma Webster who has had a great season. Emma and I grew up in Fife pony club and had fun on the team together last year. Freya Hartley was selected for the team last year but unfortunately her horse went lame but Freya came with no horse and was a great help to us all so it’s lovely for her to be competing this year. Rachael Williamson is also part of the CCI2* team for the second year in a row and this time she is bringing a different horse she has produced herself. There are also 3 former members of the 100 Team, Ruth Fansworth with her super pony who have been competing successfully at Pony Trails this year and is also a keen tetrathlon athlete, Olivia Burns who is another tetrathlon friend who represented the 100 Team 2 years ago, and Ellie Bryce who did well at Frickley and also at the 100s Championships at Blair last year – it’s great to see them all stepping up to do the CCI2*. Finally we have Georgia Buchan who is coming to Frickley on the CCI2* team for the first time after some strong results this season.

All the CCI2* riders and horses have to qualify before they are eligible, so we have all had a tense moment at times if things have not gone to plan, it can be very tricky to fit in the necessary qualifying competitions around exams – and that is before the weather impacts and you need a Plan B, C etc.  We are now all looking forward to Frickley and would like to thank all who have supported us to get there.”

Good luck Team U18 CCI2*, from all of us at Zara’s Planet.
