Clonshire Equestrian Centre , established almost 30 years ago on 120 acres of parkland owned by the County Limerick Foxhounds, has been run by successful husband and wife team Sue and Dan Foley. Sue and Dan have built up a remarkable business, welcoming and encouraging riders from both home and abroad. Their horsemanship courses include arena work to improve the riders position and balance to ensure the necessary skill set for tackling the wonderful Cross Country course. Innovative and solid training methods around the showjumping arena enable riders to perform to the best of their ability and to learn and improve their riding for a most enjoyable and safe experience.
Starting with an assessment, to explore and discuss the rest of the riding programme and to match the horses with the rider’s ability, the fully qualified coaches will make sure to concentrate on your particular riding requirements. Maybe there is something that you really want to concentrate and work on and never had the chance or the time to really give it the focus you wanted? Well, now’s your chance! With the excellent outdoor and indoor arena, set up for dressage, showjumping and schooling everything is available to ensure you have a worthwhile and enjoyable stay with us.
On the beautiful green parkland, there are over 60 fences of different types and heights. So if you have never jumped cross country before or want to improve your technical XC riding skills you will find a variety of professionally built and inviting fences all around the fields. Imagine cantering across the green lush grass and taking in some welcoming logs and rails dotted around here and there – oh the joy! More experienced riders will have plenty to test them too as Clonshire has a very successful Eventing team that competes regularly, producing and selling horses up to Olympic level all over the world. So come and find your soulmate here and let us help you find the love and joy of riding on our wonder estate.
Horses – Clonshire has over 80 horses and ponies. Most of the horses are Irish Sport Horses, with some nice Dutch Warmblood lines included in the mix. These horses are produced and professionally trained in all disciplines, Dressage, SJ and XC and will help the rider feel and achieve the next level. Our ponies are mostly Connemara’s and as with the horses their way of going and temperament ensures our guests return year after year to enjoy them.
