This is such a unique place to visit, giving our clients the unrivalled opportunity to experience Mustang horses first hand and directly invest in their secure future at the same time. Over one hundred years ago, more than two million mustangs roamed free. Today, there are approximately 30,000 left running wild in America.

This luxury eco ranch was launched in 2014 by founder and philanthropist Madeleine Pickens. She runs ‘Saving America’s Mustangs’ and here she has created a glorious sanctuary for 600-plus beautiful wild Mustangs – descendants of those who helped the pioneers settle the uninhabited West.

Surrounded by the mountains and huge open spaces of northern Nevada, Mustang Monument covers 600,000 acres of the most scenic ranch land in the States. Here in addition to watching and feeding the Mustangs, you can enjoy a huge variety of other activities, including riding out to the top of Spruce Mountain, arena riding, barrel racing, roping and shooting with one of the cowboys, or abseiling, photography, learning about Native American history, enjoying crafts like beading, or heading off on foot for some hiking in the Ruby mountains with one of the trained guides.

The accommodation is exceptional: a choice of luxurious hand-painted tipis with king-sized beds, hardwood floors, Native American rugs, crisp linens and cosy blankets, or luxury safari cottages, which feel spacious while still retaining that cabin cosiness.

Horses – Quarter horses to suit all levels.

Level of Riding & Pace – Beginner to Advanced.

Tack – Western Style.

Group Size – No maximum group size.

Weight Restriction – No weight restrictions.

There is a choice of 10 tipis or 10 cottages at Mustang Monument.

The tipis are fabulous fun. Each one is hand-painted and furnished with a very comfy custom-made king sized bed. There is no air conditioning or en-suite facilities (each tipi has its private bathroom cabin behind), but this drives the whole fun of the experience.

The cottages all have en-suite bedrooms and are beautifully furnished with warm and earthy tones with the rugged elegance of exposed woodwork throughout, to give a very rustic but stylish feel of a cabin ranch stay.

The food is delicious, fresh, and locally sourced as much as possible. It is Western style based on Native American traditions, created by their own dedicated chef. Evenings start with cocktails and canapés in the Saloon and then taken in the dining room, or out on the saloon deck or even in one of the dining tipis! Evenings often finish round the campfire toasting marshmallows and hearing atmospheric tales from Native Americans about their ancestors.

Mustang Monument is part of the Zara’s Planet collection of ranch holidays and experiences in the USA.

We have travelled the world testing a huge variety of horse riding holidays and adventures to make sure we offer you, our client, the best horse riding holiday experience possible.

Our horse riding holidays are thoroughly researched – we consider all the elements that go towards making our horse riding holiday collection the best in the world. We check the quality of the horses, if they are fit for the job, well produced and looked after. We make sure the riding terrain is good going and the countryside is interesting. We are truthful about the accommodation, telling you if it’s a five star hotel, a farmhouse or camping, and making sure above all it is clean and comfortable and offers a great night’s sleep. The food is all important too – we take the time to make sure we tell you if it’s cordon bleu, home cooked, or regional and locally sourced – above all it has to be delicious, plentiful and nourishing. Last but not least, our hosts – they can make or break a holiday as far as we are concerned and ours deliver, showing themselves to be friendly, caring, warm and welcoming.

It’s only when all these elements come together that we add that destination into our hand-picked collection of horse riding holidays.

Carmel on Colorado Cattle Ranch, USA

I wanted to let you know how I got on at the Colorado Cattle Company, it was fantastic. From the day that I got there the atmosphere was brilliant. It was a quiet week in terms of guests and there was only a German couple who stayed for part of the week, the rest of
